As Christmas approaches, I want to invite you to pause for a moment.
This season has a way of slowing us down, if we let it. It reminds us to gather close, to sit around the table and the tree, to laugh, to tell stories, and to hold onto the moments that so often pass too quickly throughout the year. These are some of life’s true gifts. But above all else, Christmas points us to the greatest gift of all: Jesus Christ, our Savior. His birth is the reason this season exists, and the source of the hope, peace, and love we celebrate.
Years ago, one of the reasons I stepped away from full-time coaching was that I wanted to be more present with my family. I had learned first-hand that success in whatever you do, without real family connection, eventually becomes nothing more than expensive loneliness. No win, title, or accomplishment replaces being there for the people who matter most.
What I didn’t fully realize at the time was that stepping away from the weight room didn’t mean stepping away from coaching. Through Critical Reload, God gave me a way to continue serving, just in a different capacity. Instead of impacting only the athletes I coached directly, I’ve been blessed to support and equip other coaches, athletes, and parents across the country. Critical Reload has allowed me to be a force multiplier—helping good programs become stronger, helping families become more informed, and helping athletes be better fueled and better cared for wherever they train.
That perspective continues to shape not only my life, but the heart behind Critical Reload. Everything we do is built around serving families, strengthening relationships, and helping coaches and athletes build something meaningful—on and off the field.
As you celebrate this Christmas, my hope is that you’re able to slow down, be present, and fully enjoy the people God has placed in your life.
