To the Brave Souls of America,
As the amber rays of dawn break on this solemn day, our nation stands united yet heavy-hearted, marking the 22nd anniversary of that fateful September morning. The echoes of that day still resonate in the hearts of every American, reminding us of the fragility of life, the strength of unity, and the indomitable spirit of our great nation.
From the towering skyscrapers of New York City to the hallowed grounds of Virginia and the quiet fields of Shanksville, Pa., we remember. We remember the nearly 3,000 souls who were taken from us too soon. We remember the grit and determination of first responders who rushed into the jaws of danger, the ordinary citizens who became extraordinary heroes, and the countless stories of bravery and sacrifice that emerged from the ashes.
Today, as we stand on these sacred grounds, we are reminded of the grit that defines us as Americans. We are a nation forged in the fires of adversity, built on the principles of freedom and democracy. We have faced challenges from within and without, but we have always risen, tougher and more resilient.
The terror of that day sought to break our spirit, divide us, and make us question our values and place in the world. But they underestimated the strength of the American spirit. They underestimated our resolve, unity, and unwavering love for our country. In the face of unspeakable tragedy, we came together as one nation, undeterred and unbroken.
Today, we honor the memories of those we lost by recommitting ourselves to the ideals that make America the beacon of hope and freedom it is. We pledge to stand together, defend our homeland, and ensure that that day’s sacrifices were not in vain.
Let this day be a testament to our resilience. Let it remind us that the American spirit shines the brightest, even in our darkest hours. Let it serve as a beacon of hope for future generations, a reminder that no matter the challenge, America will always rise.
In the face of adversity, we remain tough, gritty, and fiercely patriotic. We are the land of the free and the home of the brave. And as we pause to remember, let us also look forward with hope, knowing that our best days are still ahead.
God bless the souls we lost on September 11, and God bless the United States of America.
With deepest respect,
Mike Bewley
